Ombre

The ombre hair trend has been around for a few years...made popular by Jessica Biel, Lily Aldrige, and Lauren Conrad. But it hasn't died yet! After seeing Olivia Wilde at the Golden Globes, I was inspired...and two weeks later had ombre hair.

First, I had to find the best salon and stylist to do it. There are so many salons and so many stylists/colorists in the city, and I honestly believe that doing hair is a talent, not something that is learned. Just like someone who paints or sings...it's just a god-given talent.

So...in my quest to find the best ombre-ist in New York, I turned to google and typed: "best ombre nyc." The top two results were the same salon, just two different locations: Fox and Jane Salon. I did more research, finding the salons on yelp and reading amazing reviews, and instagram so I could actually see their work. I made note of which images I liked on instagram and noticed the same stylist had created them all. Made an appointment with Nicole at the Lower East Side location, and was like a kid waiting for Christmas morning. I was super excited to get my new do!

Nicole was absolutely awesome...I showed her pictures of what I liked, we discussed the realistically-possible outcomes, made a decision, and she went straight to work. Two hours later I left with not only ombre hair, but a bouncy blowout and toning shampoo and conditioner as well.

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Nicole truly did an amazing job and was so friendly and welcoming my entire stay. I use the toning shampoo and conditioner once a week to keep it from looking brassy.

So get ready...I have lots of outfit posts to share with my new, number one accessory: my ombre hair ;)
