Flat Out

Being a naturally curly-haired gal, I love to wear my hair pin straight from time to time. However, there is no blow dryer and round brush on this earth that does the trick like a good flat iron. If you get one that's not so great, you'll spend hours trying to achieve the look; but, if you invest in a good quality flat iron, you'll do yourself a huge favor...and save yourself (and your hair) a lot of time.

Before stumbling upon the revolutionary CHI flat iron around 2002, my hair had never been straight and glossy; but, the one complaint I always had was that I couldn't control the temperature and amount of heat I was applying to my hair. Let's face it, heat damages your hair (which is why I've embraced my natural texture and just let my curls go). Yet even on those rare days I want to go for a different look, I'd rather be able to control the temperature and help reduce the overall damage I was doing to my hair.

Enter the amika Titanium Glide Styler. It's called a styler because you can create waves and curls with it too (great for us multitaskers)! It features far infrared heat, which preserves moisture in the hair shaft and protects the hair cuticle from damage. At the same time, negative ions are working to seal the hair's cuticle, locking in moisture and eliminating frizz. It has an adjustable temp setting that I love! I can reduce the heat if I just want to smooth out my hair, or increase for a more polished look.

Is it expensive? Yeah, but it's leaps and bounds better than that drug store flat iron you're currently using. Trust me, invest in a flat iron/styler and you won't be disappointed...and if you take good care of it, it can last you for YEARS! Well worth the money!
